Explosives: The grenade is the most popular explosive weapon used in ww1. Grenades were pretty cheap at the time. Unlike bombs and Mortar shells, grenades were easy to manufacture and company could make them by the thousands.
Special groups of soldiers called bombing parties carried grenades and could throw them very far. Each grenadier was accompanied by a carrier who carried more grenades for the grenadier to throw.
